Crucial Trading Hosts Green Grads at Talking Textiles
Crucial Trading is proud to present Talking Textiles, an exhibition featuring works by six Green Grads at their Design Centre showroom in Chelsea Harbour. Celebrating sustainable design and eco-conscious textile practices, the exhibition will showcase innovative pieces made from natural fibres and materials, crafted using environmentally mindful techniques.
Now in its fourth year, Green Grads, founded by renowned journalist Barbara Chandler, supports emerging designers whose final projects address pressing environmental issues. Visitors can meet the talented graduates from February 25th to 28th, or book one-to-one appointments with a specific graduate.
The featured artists include:
Scarlett Farrer
A weaver committed to circular design, Scarlett creates compostable fabrics using wool and alpaca fleece. Experience her craft with live yarn-spinning demonstrations.
Joanne O’Rourke
Specialising in nature-inspired patterns, Joanne highlights waterless dyeing, digital printing, and natural dyes. Her collection offers an insightful look into sustainable textile innovations.
Yahvi Duggal
A trailblazer in bio-fibre design, Yahvi transforms materials like eggshells and banana peels into striking wall hangings, whilst also curating a natural dye palette.
Sofia Barbé
With a deep connection to nature, Sofia explores materials like coconut coir, wool, and mycelium to create whimsical, nature-infused textiles.
Jess Kirkpatrick
A master of natural dyes, Jess uses local plants to produce vibrant colours, focusing on reducing pollution and waste in textile printing.
Jaime Cura
A passionate advocate for reducing textile waste, Jaime’s creative pieces highlight the beauty of upcycling and the power of reusing fabric remnants.
